About This Project
What Is This?
Armchair Humanity is a fan experience built around the "Experts on Expert" episodes of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard — the conversations where scientists, researchers, psychologists, and thinkers sit in the armchair and try to explain what makes us tick.
We take those transcripts and feed them to an AI that reads like the world's most devoted Armcherry. It looks for what the conversations say together — the patterns, the tensions, the recurring questions that Dax keeps circling back to no matter who's sitting across from him.
What comes out is a portrait. Not a summary. Not a recap. A literary synthesis of what 6 conversations with the world's greatest thinkers reveal about being human.
Why Build This?
Because these conversations deserve to be seen as more than individual episodes. Each one is great on its own. But read across all of them and something bigger emerges — a picture of humanity that no single episode could paint.
Dax keeps asking the same question in different ways. About free will. About shame. About whether we're determined by our genes or our choices. About what it means to be a good parent when you didn't have one. He doesn't always know he's asking it. The AI sees the thread.
How It Works
Every Experts on Expert transcript is processed through Claude (Anthropic's AI), which has been given deep knowledge of the show's characters — Dax, Monica, Rob, Kristen — and instructed to read for voice, personality, and pattern, not just content.
Each episode gets its own synthesis: a portrait, tensions between experts, a reflection question in Dax's voice, character moments, and enlightenment moments. Then all of those are synthesized into one global portrait that evolves every time a new episode is added.
No human cherry-picks quotes. No editorial spin. The AI reads the actual transcripts and finds what the conversations say when you hold them all up to the light at once.

Some Armcherry. Not affiliated with Armchair Expert, Wondery, or anyone official. Just a fan who thinks these conversations matter and wanted to see what they look like as one big, beautiful, messy picture.
This is a fan love letter, not a corporate product. It should feel warm, curious, and a little goofy....like the show itself.
